The Kisan Credit Card (KCC) scheme, launched by the Government of India in 1998, is designed to ensure timely and affordable credit access for farmers to support agricultural and allied activities. Implemented through various banking institutions, the scheme facilitates simplified credit delivery along with flexible repayment options, crop insurance, and interest subvention benefits. The present study, titled “A Study on the Repayment Patterns of Kisan Credit Card Users in Relation to Their Socio-Economic Characteristics in Jaunpur District of Uttar Pradesh,” was undertaken in the purposively selected Machchali Shahar block. From the identified potential villages, five percent of KCC holders were selected, of which ten percent were chosen randomly as respondents. The study assessed the repayment behavior of KCC users in relation to age, education, and income levels. The findings revealed that younger farmers (20-35 years) showed mixed repayment patterns with both high default and regular repayment rates, while middle-aged and older farmers demonstrated more disciplined repayment behavior. Additionally, educational attainment and income levels were found to be positively correlated with responsible repayment practices, indicating that higher education and income significantly improve credit repayment performance. The study concludes that socio-economic factors such as age, education, and income substantially influence the repayment behavior of KCC beneficiaries.
