Relationship between attitude of respondents about crop residue and socio-economic variables

Abstract:

The main focus of this study is to analyse the attitude of farmers towards the crop residue management scheme and relationship with socio-economic variables. This Study was conducted in two districts of Haryana state – Bhiwani and Kaithal, covering two blocks of each district and two villages from each block with random sample techniques with 200 respondents. More than 75 percent of respondents agreed that establishment of custom hiring centres in the village are highly required, machinery/equipment’s are in reach of small and marginal farmers, farm implements are timely available from custom hiring centres, this scheme eradicate the problem of crop residue burning, facilities available in custom hiring centres are excellent, financial assistance to individual farmer/farmer’s group and for procurement of machinery are adorable. More than 80 percent of respondents had positive attitude about scheme followed by neutral attitude. In both the districts attitude of the respondents had a significant correlation with education of the respondents, age and farming experience. Study concludes machinery/equipment’s of crop residue in custom hiring centres are very demanding, no respondents had negative attitude towards this crop residue management scheme.
