Abstract:

The seed storability of soybean is influenced by different methods of threshing and processing was studied at the Department of Seed Science and Technology, College of Agriculture, Raichur under ambient conditions. The experiment was conducted in laboratory using Factorial Completely Randomized Design with three replications. The findings show that, the seed moisture content differed non significantly across the months of storage. Initial months showed highest seed moisture content in T1 (10.48%), P3 (10.41%) and T1P3 (10.53%) and the lowest seed moisture content was recorded in T3 (10.25%), P1 (10.31%) and T3P1 (10.16%). Further, the 100 seed weight differed non significantly across the months of storage. The 100 seed weight depends on the moisture content. The findings shows that, at the end of nine months of storage period, highest 100 seed weight was recorded in T1 (10.00 g), P3 (9.95 g) and T1P3 (10.11 g) while significantly lowest 100 seed weight was recorded in T3 (9.78 g), P1 (9.84 g) and T3P1 (9.75 g). Further, the findings shows that, the results on seed germination percentage as influenced by different threshing methods, processing operations and their interaction effects at different months of storage period. Highest seed germination was recorded in T1 (75.11%), P3 (73.66%) and T1P3 (77.33%) while significantly lower seed germination was recorded in T3 (70.55%), P1 (71.11%) and T3P1 (69.66%).
