Special Issue

What a Special Issue Is

A special issue is an edition of the journal devoted to a single theme, or to papers arising from a particular conference, rather than to the general mix of submissions that fills a regular issue. It is listed separately from the main archive so that readers looking for a themed collection can find it directly.

No special issue has been published yet. Any that the journal releases will appear on this page, grouped by year and issue number in the same way as the regular archive.

How a Special Issue Differs from a Regular Issue

The difference lies in the scope and the origin of the papers, not in the standard applied to them. Everything that governs a regular issue governs a special issue too:

  • The same double-blind peer review by two independent reviewers — see the peer review and publication policy.
  • The same plagiarism screening through Similarity Check by Crossref.
  • A registered Crossref DOI for every article, under the prefix 10.33545.
  • Open access from the day of publication, under the CC BY-NC 4.0 licence.
  • The same volume numbering as the rest of the journal.

A paper published in a special issue is therefore cited exactly like any other paper in this journal. For manuscript requirements see the Instructions to Author.
